RV dump station FAQ

Can I dump my RV black tank into my sewer cleanout?

A cleanout is not automatically an RV dump point; permission, plumbing design, and local code all matter.

Short answer

You may be able to use a private sewer cleanout only with the property owner's permission, a suitable connection, and compliance with local plumbing and wastewater rules. A cleanout is not automatically designed or approved for an RV hose, and a bad connection can cause leaks, backups, or contamination. Never use someone else's cleanout without clear authorization.

What to keep in mind

  • Confirm the cleanout connects to a sanitary sewer, not a stormwater system.
  • Use a sealed adapter and a flow setup that will not overwhelm the building drain or septic system.
  • If the property owner or local authority cannot confirm the connection, use a licensed dump facility instead.

Facility services, fees, access, and local disposal rules can change. Confirm the details with the operator or local authority before you travel.
