Information collected automatically

When you request a page or use a site feature, the site and its service providers can receive standard network and device information. This can include your IP address, request date and time, requested URL, referring page, browser and device type, operating system, language, and security or error data.

Analytics and cookies

The site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand page visits and how directory tools are used. Google Analytics loads automatically when a page loads rather than waiting for a separate cookie prompt.

Google Analytics can receive page URLs and titles, referring pages, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser and device information, session information, a cookie-based browser identifier, and interactions with the site. We also measure broad actions such as searches, nearby searches, route calculations, filter use, listing visits, directions and website clicks, contact-form submissions, and listing reports.

Custom analytics events do not include raw search text, precise device coordinates, route endpoints, names, email addresses, message or report text, or phone numbers. Advertising storage, advertising personalization, and Google Signals are disabled.

Google Analytics can set first-party cookies with names beginning with _ga to distinguish browsers and sessions. Google states that its main _ga cookie can last for up to two years and that GA4 uses IP addresses to derive approximate location before discarding them rather than logging or storing individual IP addresses. Learn more from Google's documentation about Analytics data collection and regional data collection.

Information you choose to provide

The contact form collects your email address, selected subject, message, submission time, and your name if you provide it. An emailed message can also include your email address and any information or attachments you choose to send.

A listing report contains the station, listing page, selected report type, optional details, and submission time. The report form does not ask for your name or email address. Do not put passwords, payment information, medical information, or other sensitive personal information in a message or report.

Location and route tools

Location access is optional. The nearby-station tools ask your browser for location only after you select "Use my location." Your exact coordinates are used in the browser to calculate distances and are not included in custom analytics events. Requests for station data and map tiles can still reveal a broader displayed area to the providers handling those requests.

The route planner sends its start and destination coordinates through the site to an external routing provider so it can calculate a route. A start point can be your device location if you choose that option. Returned routes are cached temporarily to reduce repeat requests, but the cache is not connected to a name or site account and is deleted after 30 days. Do not use the route planner if you do not want the route points sent for calculation.

How information is used

Information is used to provide and improve the directory, calculate nearby results and routes, understand which pages and tools are useful, respond to messages, review listing corrections, prevent spam and abuse, diagnose problems, secure the site, and comply with legal obligations.

Service providers and external services

Cloudflare provides website delivery, security, private storage, and the Turnstile check on the contact form. It can process standard network and security information, and the contact-form verification can include your IP address and browser signals.

Google provides analytics and receives the analytics information described above.

Map pages retrieve software and map tiles from UNPKG and OpenStreetMap. These providers can receive standard request information, and requested map tiles can reveal the area displayed on the map. The route planner uses the public OSRM service, which receives the route points from the site.

Links to station websites, telephone services, email services, and Google Maps leave this site. Those services receive information under their own privacy policies when you open or use them.

How information is disclosed

We disclose information to providers that help operate, secure, measure, and support the site; when you direct us to interact with an external service; when required by law or legal process; or when reasonably necessary to protect the site, its users, or another person. Information can also be transferred as part of a sale, merger, financing, or transfer of the website.

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not disclose personal information for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising. A verified listing correction can become public, so only submit information suitable for a public business listing.

Retention

Contact messages, emails, and listing reports are kept only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain directory records, prevent abuse or disputes, and meet legal obligations. Temporary route data is deleted after 30 days. Hosting and security logs and Google Analytics data are retained according to the applicable provider settings and policies. Aggregated statistics that no longer identify a visitor can be kept longer.

Your choices and privacy rights

You can block or delete cookies using your browser settings. Blocking analytics requests or cookies can reduce Google Analytics measurement without preventing use of the directory. Google also offers a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. You can deny a browser location request and continue using the rest of the site.

The theme control stores only a light or dark preference in your browser's local storage. You can remove it by clearing this site's browser data.

Depending on where you live and whether the applicable law covers this site, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information you provided. Send a request to contact@rv-dump-stations.com and describe the information and action requested. We can ask for information reasonably needed to verify your request. You can also use an authorized agent where applicable.

Third-party tracking and browser signals

Google can collect information about visits over time when people use this site and other sites or apps that use Google services, as described in Google's partner-site privacy information. The site does not authorize an advertising network to track visitors.

The site does not respond differently to a browser's "Do Not Track" setting. Because the site does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control do not change those practices.

Children's privacy

The directory is a general travel resource and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

Policy changes

This policy is effective as of the "Last updated" date shown at the top. We can update it when the site, its providers, or legal requirements change. Material changes will be posted here and handled as required by applicable law.
